Fahrenheit 451post reading

Write a blog post that answers the following question: Which "Utopian" world should be more feared; one in which government's control is so oppressive that people have no choice for themselves, or one in which people are so falsely happy that they do NOT realize the oppression of their government's control?   Be sure to explain your answer with specific examples

In my opinion I feel that a “utopian world which governments control is so unjust that people have no choices for themselves” is to be feared more. I feel this way because people can actually see the role playing of injustice being made by the government but the fact is, is that they can’t do anything about it.
Everyday no matter where you are in this world you can seen injustice being made. For our school it's bullying. You see bigger, older kids standing over top of smaller, younger kids because they feel like they possess more power than them. And what do innocent bystanders do? They walk away because they don't want to get involved in the situation because it would make it “their problem”. Guidance counselors, teachers and administrators do everything in their power to prevent this from happening. You're probably thinking what's your point? My point is that imagine the guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators aren't there. In this occasion what's left is the bully which is the government and the victim is the society. What can they do now that the teachers aren't there?
Another example is that in Antz from the beginning that you are born you are given a job, and it doesn't matter what you want either. In Antz you are either given a job of a worker or a soldier. And you're stuck with it until you die basically. This shows that the ants in this movie had no say and no choice in what you wanted to do. And if you did you were considered selfish because it didn't matter about you it mattered about the “colony”.
My point that i am trying to prove when you can't express how you want to them how are you going to live like the government wants you to? What if you can't because you're either physically or mentally not ready for it? All these questions of fear begin to pop up into your head.

fahrenheit 451 pre-reading

We have been looking at and reading short stories and novels about worlds that are seen as Utopian (to at least someone in the novel).  Write a blog post about your perfect Utopian society.

The definition of Utopian means modeled on or aiming for a state in which everything is perfect; idealistic. In my Utopian society everyone will get along and be very peaceful and relaxing. Everyone feels the need at one point to be better than someone because they felt like they needed to test their limits and strive to be their best. Well in my society it doesn't have to be that way. You shouldn't feel the need to be better than someone because you get along with everyone and tolerate their personality and choices . Why should you even feel need to beat someone if you're relaxed and agree with everyone?
When I say relax I mean a huge campus where people can lay out in the sun, go swimming, get a nice chill once in awhile. I would also provide everyone with food and shelter for those that were once poor and homeless and couldn't provide for themselves.
I know that some people may not agree with how my society is set up and I understand few people feel that violence is how they express their relaxation. So for those that like violence and competition in my society there will be one month  for whoever chooses not to be relaxed can go to a place separate place, far from my Utopian society  feel free to let out any other emotions however they please.

Feed post reading

“Think about what makes individuals in the 21st century happy.   Then answer the question; what is happiness and how to people find happiness?  Think about what people did or how people would define happiness in the early 1900's.  How would the definition or process of finding happiness be similar and/or different in 1915 and 2015?”
Everyone has different personalities, therefore  a variety of things can make each person in this world happy or have “happiness”. Making people happy there comes sizes. What I mean by that is that if there's a scene in nature that makes you happy that's a pretty big size considering its nature. Being in the 21st century a simple device that ranges from all different sizes and that fits in your back pocket for some people that’s all the happiness they’ll ever need.
The dictionary states that happiness means “the state of being happy”. Although the dictionary says this I think there’s a more deeper meaning to “happiness”  than just being happy. I think that happiness means that whether it's a person or an object that you hold in your hand there's never a dull moment with them, they make you feel loved and wanted. You also feel like there's nothing to break that bond that you share with whatever brings you happiness.
The early 1900’s was an exciting time to live because that’s whenever technology was first created. If you lived in that time period you had to be excited and thrilled because that was a sign “Hey we have machines that will make your life easier in various ways!”. In the 1900’s the life expectancy was around 46 years of age. When electricity was created that meant we could store food longer (have a healthier life). Later on  the life expectancy rose dramatically. I would assume that because their not use to all this technology even the tiniest machinery made them happy. For example since population increased trains became invented and made our lives a whole lot  easier.
Comparing the two different time periods they don't have as nearly much technology we do today. Being in the 21st century we depend our lives on machines and were so used to using them because we've been using them ever since the 1900’s. I think that it was much easier to find happiness in the 1900’s because they weren't use to all this machines and making their life easier. With us being in the 21st century were waiting for the newest phone or machinery to keep fulfilling our happiness because maybe you want more, and better.
